I always thought that Mrs. (or was it Miss?) Whaley from Beverly Cleary's Ramona books was an interesting portrayal of a teacher/student relationship. Ramona wasn't always sure where she stood with Mrs. Whaley and wanted her teacher to like her; Mrs. Whaley was a good and fun teacher but had realistic weaknesses too.
