I've just finished reading _The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things_ by Carolyn Mackler, in which several interesting teachers are portrayed. The supportive and encouraging Ms. Crowley... The crazy old Mr. Moony. He

embarrasses the students by singing their names, but they realize they'll miss him when he's no longer around... Another interesting facet is a look, from the students' point of view, at the those who are chosen as "Model Students." It made me think about what we teachers see as model behavior; we should look more at how students interact with each other.

Has anyone mentioned Kevin Henkes' Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse?
We don't want to forget Lilly's compassionate teacher, Mr.
  Slinger.............!!! What a guy!
