Greetings,
When I read the topic for this month I felt I had to share this story.
My daughter's third grade teacher read "Stone Fox"
(John Reynolds Gardiner) aloud to their class this year. I still remember the look on her face when she came home and told me that Mr. Schell started crying while he was reading. What an impact! She asked me to bring our copy home from the library so she could read it again. I think it gave her a whole new perspective on books and reading. She picked out another "dog" book to give her teacher for Christmas. His thank-you note stated that he hoped this new book wouldn't make him cry.
