Read-Alouds:

I'd like to add to this conversation another virtue for hearing a read-aloud. It adds a voice that isn't our own. It gives a story a new pace, a new sound, and hopefully generate new ways to think about the book. It also gives us ways to pronounce character's names (I think about Hermione in Harry Potter....)

I believe in the value of hearing books read so much that I added about 1,000 audio excerpts of K books to TeachingBooks -- and I did that so that children could sit and hear what an author or professional reader sounds like. I also can document for you that this section is used hundreds of times / day.

Happy listening.

Nick
