On Saturday, October 9, 2004 from 10:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. there will be a Family Book Fest at the new Freeport Public Library in Freeport, IL. Approximately 20 authors and illustrators of books for both children and adults will be on hand to sell and autograph their books. Panel discussions and programs for teachers and writers will be conducted by experienced authors throughout the day. Some of the topics include: "Turning Family Stories into Fiction," "Self-Publishing and Writing Memoirs," "Authors and Their Books in the Classroom," "Turning 'I Hate to Write' into 'I Love to Write,'" "Getting Started in the Publishing Field," and "Writing for Newspapers and Magazines." Two of the programs for teachers will probably be approved for CPDUs. Children's activities and entertainment include: face painting, a magician, storytellers, a folk musician, and numerous craft projects. On display for checking out of the library will be books relating to the various topics and activities. Plan to bring the whole family to our Family Book Fest! It's cosponsored by the ABC Writers Group, Highland Community College Library, and the Freeport Public Library.
