It's 6 a.m., and unable to sleep, I figured I'd get ahead on the Monday morning influx of emails. For those of you having doubts about the importance of reading and books to young people, or those of you who just need to smile, I would like to pass this snippet of an email I received from a 13-year old 'friend:'


i am having a major EEEEK! attack here, kelley. you remember a few years ago (maybe 1, 2???) there was this book about a book. fairy talish? I NEED IT! i can't remember it and have now just, and i WANNNNNNNNNT it. please please please please please please please please please please PLEASE tell me it is not missing or dead or lost or something. tell me on monday when i go to check my email before i come to the library that it WILL be there and waiting for me. please?
  i'm EEEK!ing very badly. i need boooooooooooks.
