Norma,

I apologize for having mislead you with my last correspondence. Actually, I have read all of the books that I mentioned in my previous email with the exception of "The Meanest Doll in the World." I am not disagreeing with anything others have contributed to the conversation and I am fully aware that books should be approached as the product that it is and not what we wish it were. I value all of the titles I mentioned.

Having said that, what I was asking was what others see in looking at the differences and the similarities "The Doll People " and Godden's "The Dollhouse" (which I also have read).

In the county within which I work, we ask our students to make connections between what they are reading and what they have read, connections with what they are reading and experiences in their lives, and connections with what they are reading and what they know of the world. I'm asking if others see any differences and similarities having to do with the first of those connections. My intent is not to take anything away from either book, but to rather identify the nuances that might exist.

I hope this helps, Karen Moroughan
