Reading at Risk/Pop Culture as Security

I beg to differ, but to my knowledge Ann M. Martin wrote around one hundred and twenty-five of the Babysitter's Club books herself. And although her editor, Jean Feiwel, gave Ann the TITLE for the series, it was Ann who created the characters, concepts and stories. Nina Ignatowicz

the Universe", "Belle Teal", etc.

Actually Meg, Ann M. Martin only wrote a few of those books. The rest were ghostwritten. She did have final approval on them before they went to press. And the idea wasn't hers. Her editor called her and suggested the series.

And when it comes to deceiving children, Animorphs and Goosebumps were ghostwritten as well. So you might call it a pop culture thing after all.
