I hope this notice meets the first/last-of-the-month requirements, given that we've had a long holiday weekend and new discussion hasn't really started.
The Jane Addams Children's Book Awards committee, sponsored by the Jane Addams Peace Association, is currently considering books published in 2004, in the United States.
These awards are given annually to a picture book and a longer book for children
(ages 2) that most effectively promote the cause of peace, social justice, world community, and the equality of the sexes and all races, as well as meeting conventional standards of excellence. Please send, by December 31, 2004, two copies of any book that you believe meet these criteria to the JACBA committee chair: Donna Barkman, 1 Reservoir Road, Ossining NY 10562. For more information about the Jane Addams Peace Association, check the website: www.janeaddamspeace.org.
Thank you for your interest!
