Another example of this is in Faerie Wars by Herbie Brennen, published by Bloomsbury. I'm not sure how much attention this book got when it came out last year, but I just loved it. Toward the beginning, the boy overhears his parents' discussion and thinks his father is having an affair with his
(female) secretary--but then learns it is is mother who is having the affair with her. However, this is just part of the frame of the story, which involves travel to a supernatural world, and not the novel's focus. Susan Stan
