Thanks, Brian, for mentioning Frank Chin. Laurence Yep is another Chinese American author. His excellent series of historical novels-?ginning with DRAGONWINGS--traces several generations of one family in China and California.
Louise Erdrich's THE BIRCHBARK HOUSE is one of a small group of books by Native American authors that I repeatedly recommend for indigenous perspectives on US history. I'd like to see more.
