Does anyone recall publisher John Day's book set in the U.S. National Parks? They centered on the native populations which lived in those regions-?fore they were parks.

Book which made lasting impression:

Erik Haugaard's (sp?) THE LITTLE FISHES. (Grades 6-8) Tells about three children fleeing Naples in the latterly days of WW II. German soldier's quotation (from which the title is taken) sums up children and war perfectly. Contains strong characterization and great creation of landscape.
