Historical Fiction

As an author of narrative nonfiction, I'm following the discussion of historical fiction with great interest. I'm wondering if folks see any difference between stories set in the past with fictitious characters vs. fictionalized stories about actual people in the past.

I'd love to hear from authors/editors/publishers on whether we have any specific responsibilities to our young readers when we write a fictionalized story about a real historical person.

And from librarians/teachers, whether you present these stories in a different manner than historical fiction in which every character is 'made up.'
