Announcement: Charlotte Zolotow Award Event in New York City,

We'd like to invite any members of the CCBC-Net community who live in the New York City area to join us to celebrate outstanding writing in picture books with the presentation of the seventh annual Charlotte Zolotow Award to Amy Schwartz for "What James Likes Best" (Richard Jackson Books / Atheneum). We will also acknowledge the authors of the five honor books at this event: John Coy for "Two Old Potatoes and Me"
(Alfred A. Knopf); Rebecca O'Connell for "The Baby Goes Beep" (Deborah Brodie / Roaring Brook); Won-Ldy Paye and Margaret H. Lippert for "Mrs. Chicken & the Hungry Crocodile" (Henry Holt); James Rumford for "The Calabash Cat and His Amazing Journey" (Houghton Mifflin); and George Shannon for
"Tippy-Toe Chick Go!" (Greenwillow / HarperCollins).
The event will take place on Monday, May 24, 2004, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Algonquin Hotel, 59 West 44th Street, New York, New York. There will be a cocktail reception beginning at 5:00 pm, followed by the award presentation at 6:00 pm.
