As I understood his message, poet Arnold Adoff is objecting to the lack of ethnic / cultural diversity on a PEN panel entitled "Fresh Thinking: Exciting New Ideas in Children's and Young Adult Literature."
Although a discussion of the PEN panel is off-topic right now, Arnold does raise some insightful points that can certainly be applied to historical fiction. (You knew I'd bring it back around, right?)
Who speaks for us when it comes to recounting our histories? How important is point of view? Whose voices are heard?

I am afraid I don't understand. I am not knowledgeable about PEN, but it sounds as if you think they have done something offensive. Please explain. Sally Derby
