I'd like to underscore all the recommendations on this listserv for Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics. I decided to read it last week because I thought I'd Learn About Comics As An Art Form, so I went to get it off the shelf expecting a big fat nonfiction tome and
(forgive me if this was stated already on CCBC-NET)...it's a comic book! And it was fun to read, as well as being very informative and thought provoking about comics and art.
