CALL FOR PAPERS: Focus on South Africa
--------------Please note: This message refers to the same conference as noted in Perry Nodelman's message yesterday, but is a call for papers for a specialized panel with different submission requirements.
--------------The International Committee of the Children's Literature Association is planning a special country focus panel on South Africa, to be presented at the Children's Literature Association Conference in Winnipeg, Canada, June 9, 2005. The Committee invites papers that focus on any aspect of South African children's literature. Three or four papers will be selected; the papers should not exceed the twenty-minute reading time.
Deadline: November 30, 2004. The paper, with an accompanying cover letter, should be submitted to the Children's Literature Association, P. O. Box 138, Battle Creek, MI 4901638, USA; fax: +269?5568; email: kkiessling at childlitassn.org. For information about the panel, email: susan.stan at cmich.edu.
NOTE: The Association will also sponsor one scholar from South Africa to present a paper at this panel. The winner will receive up to US
$1,000 toward documented expenses in connection with the conference (to be given in US dollars during the conference). The candidate must be a South African resident or citizen and present his/her paper in person in English. If you know anyone who might be eligible for this competition, please encourage that person to submit a paper for consideration or to email Susan Stan for more information.
