Today will be the last day to post on the Sibert Discussion. Please share any final thoughts you have on the Sibert books.

Tomorrow we will turn our attention to graphic novels.

Regarding the Sibert, I think both the books chosen underscore how important the "whole" is in informational books--the text and supplemementary matter--whether it's illustrations or the presentation of archival materiall--must work well together, enhancing the overall result. I'm wondering if anyone who has served on one of the Sibert committees can comment on ways the committee approaches evaluation of these elements of non-fiction. How do you consider the whole versus the separate elements? It seems the answer would be book?pendent, but perhaps not. Can anyone offer insights?
