Hello everyone.
True to graphic novel and comic form, this discussion has gone all over the place, and I fear that our non-linear approach to the topic may have inhibited our ability to answer some questions for one another. (if only we had pictures....) So you will be receiving a pile of messages from me, each with unique subjects so you can follow and participate more easily. Please be sure that when you answer, your subject reflects the topic you will be addressing. I know this is atypical of CCBC-Net, but let's just experiement with it and see if perhaps it lessens the overwhelmed feeling many are experiencing. It will enable us, all with different levels of comfort, to contribute from wherever we are. I encourage the newbies to post like crazy-- we want to help (er, CONVERT!) you and your freshness to the format/genre will help us articulate what we love and why we feel it is valuable.
The topics:
Definitions and Nomencalture
Places to go for reviews and guidance
Manga
Technical aspects (how to read, how to teach, how to write)
Gender and race issues
All the best, Hollis
