Hi Julie, I'm not sure about libraries, but I work at a bookstore in Texas and we had only a few of the titles in our regular database. Even in South Austin, with a strongly latino demographic, our corporate offices didn't order these for us, so I ordered them myself. I'm afraid the corporate, and to some degree popular, perception is that books about persons of non-white ethnicities are strictly for those same persons, which is ridiculous. I keep hoping we're past that limited way of thinking.
I used "The Pot that Juan Built" at storytime last week, and the children enjoyed it a great deal--it is radiant!
