CFP: _Encyclopedia of American Children's and Young Adult Literature_
Dear Fellow CCBC-net Subscribers,
Thank you for allowing a day or two for announcements on the listserv. In that spirit, I offer the call for contributors below:
As editor-in-chief of the 3-volume illustrated _Encyclopedia of American Children's and Young Adult Literature_ forthcoming from Greenwood Press, I seek contributors who may be interested in writing entries on Newbery Award-winning titles. These entries are 1000 words each and each entry contains a brief plot summary, other awards the book may have won, and a brief discussion of the novel's overall contribution to American children's or young adult literature. A short bibliography of recommended further reading about each title completes each entry. Deadline for Newbery entries is June 1, 2004. A minimum of 3000 words is required for each contributor's work to be included in the project (so each contributor of these entries must be willing to be assigned 3 Newbery books). Compensation will be a complimentary reference set at publication (estimated retail value is
$300.00) and an entry about the author in the contributors' notes.
If you are interested in contributing to this important project, please email the editor at: connieannkirk at hotmail.com letting me know that you saw this announcement on ccbc-net and providing a brief description of your background in children's and/or young adult literature, along with your preferred postal mailing address, phone number, and email address. Please also let me know a few Newbery titles you might like to write about, though you should be aware that some of these titles may be already taken by other contributors. Qualified applicants will receive a listing of available entries from which to choose, followed by contributors' guidelines and a sample entry when titles are successfully negotiated. A release form that needs to be signed will arrive later from the publisher.
I hope to hear from you!
