In response to Monica and Linnea: As a former reading teacher I used to coordinate a Guest Reader program in my district . One day when the Supt. had been enlisted to participate he asked me to choose a book for him. I chose the Velveteen Rabbit. When he got to the part where the rabbit was about to be burned , tears trickled down his cheek.
. The third graders sat there in awe. Here was the Supt. of Schools sitting in their classroom crying over a book he was reading to them. He loved the book and took it home to share with his family. The third grade teacher told me later that her children were very moved by that happening, She said they talked and talked about it. I think having children see adults moved by story is a very positive experience. Kay Winters Quakertown, PA www.kaywinters.com
