February 2004 February 1: 2004 Newbery Winner and Honor Books. During the first two weeks of February, we invite you to discuss the 2004 Newbery winner and honor books, recognized for the most distinguished writing for children published in 2003. February 15): 2004 Printz Award and Honor Books: We'll spend the second two weeks in Feburary looking at the winner and honor books for the Michael Printz award for literary excellence in publishing for young adults during 2003.


March 2004 March 1-6: 2004 Coretta Scott King Winners and Honor Books: The first week of March, we'll focus on the books recognized by the 2004 Coretta Scott King Award committee as the outstanding contributions for young people created by Black authors and artists in 2003. March 7: 2004 Pura Belpre Winners and Honor Books: This biennial award is given to works created for youth by Latino authors and artists. We'll spend the second week of March discussino the 2004 winners and honor books, which are chosen from books published in 2002 and 2003.

March 14 : 2004 Batchelder Winner and Honor Books: This award goes to the publisher of the oustanding translated book of the year. We'll talk about the winner and any honor books named by the 2004 Batchelder Committee in the third week of March.

March 210: 2004 Sibert Winner and Honor Books: We'll conclude our discussion of American Library Association Award winners talking about the newest ALA children's book award. The Sibert recognizes excllence in informational books for youth.
