I agree with Monica 100%. I read this book to my third graders earlier in the year and they loved it. They got it! I am thrilled to have a Newbery book that I can share with children as young as third grade. I was at the announcement press conference yesterday and cheered at the news! I am excited for Kate DiCamillo. What a delightful young woman - and so bright! I look forward to hearing her speech in June. She made a wonderful speech when she accepted our Texas Bluebonnet Award for
_Because of Winn-Dixie_. My thanks and congratulations to the entire Newbery committee. Well done! Sue McGown St. John's School Houston, TX
