Hi CCBC-netters:
It is interesting to read about who is affected (or not) by 9/11 and who is attached (or not) to books and other materials released since 9/11.
I can't quite believe I'm saying this, but in a way I think 9/11 belongs to our country and not just to New York. (Usually I shrink from ANY and I mean ANY kind of nationalism.) The only time in recent memory that I felt a sense of connection to the people in our 50 states was at and just after 9/11. Our kids certainly have not forgotten 9/11 and it is good to have really good books to offer them that provide something of a context for the site of the attacks.
Anyway I look forward to reading Gerstein's book. I adored his "Arnold of the Ducks" (really, don't miss it) and am anxious to read this award-winner.
