I, too, don't understand why the novel was omitted from so many 'best lists.'
In my opinion the book will become a classic with child-readers. I would put it in a class with ALICE IN WONDERLAND or among other past-master writings.
When I first finished the book, I wanted to race out to the nearest classroom to read it aloud. The book has everything. What a wondrous read. What a wondrous message it contains.
