Don't Let the Pigeon

I adore "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus," and so do the children to whom I've given it. However, as a non-artist, I am puzzled about why it is a Caldecott winner, unless it's that the art so clearly shows the emotion. I'm not criticizing the choice, just wondering what I should notice when I look over the book again. Sally Derby
