Mike, I second your enthusiasm for this book. It's one of the most memorable books I've read in a long time, and it's a terrific example of the outstanding use of point of view.

Unfortunately, it was only published as an adult book here in the U.S., so I think a lot of youth services people haven't read or heard of it. In England, it was published simultaneously as an adult book and as a children's book, a courageous and creative decision. I wish the same would have been done here, as I would love to see it eligible for the Printz Award.

Another book that was published as an adult book that could/should have been co-published for teens in the U.S. is "Persepolis" by Marjane Satrapi. This is an excellent graphic-novel memoir about the author's coming of age in Iran at the time of the Islamic Revolution.

"Curious Incident" and "Persepolis" are two of the most outstanding books of the year for teens and adults. I hope people who work with youth will learn about them and share them with teens.
