Perhaps a coming of age story is one in which a young person of any age is confronted with a situation in which he/she has no reliable guide for a decision or course of action thrust upon him. In that regard, nine year old Pedro's story in Antonio Skarmeta's "The Composition" is truly a coming-of-age story, poignant, beautifully told, and sadly relevant in today's world.
