I'm sorry I dont remember and can't retrieve the name of the person who suggested that David Levithan's delightful BOY MEETS BOY (Knopf) is also a good example of community, along with all the wonderful titles that have been suggested during this segment. BOY MEETS BOY acknowledges and explores the growing community among gay kids -- something that Associate Professor Christine Jenkins of the Univ. of Ill. at Urbana -Champaign has pointed out has been lacking so far in books for kids, but that is increasingly prevalent in real life. The book itself is delightful and free of the polemics that unfortunately (but understandably) sometimes still tend to slow stories down that deal with gay kids.
