It's so great to see that people are enjoying our website! Also, there are lots of activities for children on the RIF Reading Planet section: http://www.rif.org/readingplanet/ .

In September, Reading is Fundamental (RIF) and the Corcoran Gallery of Art hosted an illustrator extravaganza in Washington DC with 20+ illustrators and tens of thousands of attendees.
There are some fun and informative resources on their website I'd like bring to your attention.
At http://www.rif.org/art/illustrators_atwork.mspx you'll find a series of 6 slide shows that show some of the styles and tools illustrators use in their studios to create children?s books: Collage, Marker, Pencil, Brush, Fruit and Etching. Slides are culled from movies I made in the studios of Denise Fleming, David Wiesner, David Macaulay, Bryan Collier, Vera B. Williams, Betsy Lewin, Chris Raschka, Saxton Freymann, Arthur Geisert and Michael Emberley.
At http://www.rif.org/art/timeline.mspx Leonard Marcus created a wonderful timeline titled Picture Books Through Time. It provides a narrative of twenty titles that have made an impact on the history of the picture book.
You will need Flash to view any of these programs.
Peace and happy fall.
Nick
