Madelinka is a great book about community.
And though it doesn't show a community working together, Fleischman's Whirligig is a great book for showing how everyone is linked. What one person does has a ripple effect on the rest of society which is a key element of community.
It a powerful and poignant novel.
The Strength of Saints looks at a southern community banding together to improve the living conditions during the Depression.
