Dear list members,
I've recently joined this list and have been reading the discussions with pleasure. I was delighted to see my book mentioned a few times--and began to feel like an eavesdropper since I had not yet introduced myself. I'll do so now.
I'm the author of THE CITY OF EMBER, published by Random House this year. It's my first novel. I had been almost exclusively a non-fiction writer until Ember entered my mind, and when it was accepted two years ago for publication, I found myself in the world of children's books without knowing a great deal about it. I joined several lists and have been getting a wonderful education from impressively knowledgeable librarians, teachers, and writers.
I'd like to say a special hello to Nancy Mercado, who said such nice things about Ember, and who is, I understand, a friend of my editor, Jim Thomas.
I look forward to learning from you all.
