Crestwood, NY, where my friends and I found a huge brush pile around and in which we pretended to be Mowgli, Gray Brother, and the other characters in Kipling's Jungle Books. (Too bad some of the brush turned out to be fresh poison sumac!) And then there was the one in Providence, R. I, in which my best friend Susie and I fought the Korean War, taking hill after hill...
