My middle school learning center sponsors a monthly book club called Book Buddies. Groups of two to three--always to include at least one student and one adult--get together to discuss the book they chose to read the month before. The adult in the group may be a teacher, another school staff member, a relative of the student, a member of the school board, or just a member of the community. (I need to work on my marketing to the last group!) I am new to the school, and thus new to the program--it began last winter--and I'm very interested to see how it works out: our first meeting is this upcoming week. I'll be providing a short list of
"conversation starter" questions that are strictly optional. The whole idea is to create a community of people who like to read and to share ideas--and to have fun!
