Join us for a special appearance from best-selling author Kevin Henkes. He will read from his latest middle grade novel, Olive's Ocean. Kevin will sign copies of all his books including The Birthday Room and Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse. Recommended for ages 8 and up.

Join us for our first ever Scholastic Teaching Strategies series. Wednesday, September 17, 4:30 ? 6pm Kick off the school year with Classroom Routines That Really Work. Bank Street staff developer and preschool teacher Kathleen Hayes will discuss the implementation of classroom routines in the Pre K-K classroom. The presentation will feature suggestions and tips from her best selling book, Classroom Routines That Really Work. Topics will include strategies for arrival time, class meetings, work centers, small groups and outside play. For teachers of PreK ? K. Wednesday, October 1, 4:30 ? 6pm Using Primary Sources to Make History Come Alive. Join us for a workshop with Karen Baicker creator of The Scholastic Primary Sources Teaching Kit series. The series includes units on civil rights, colonial times, explorers, immigration and the westward movement. These teaching materials provide valuable background information on historical events, document?sed discussion questions, and reproducible that help kids analyze and evaluate historical documents. For teachers of grades 4 ? 8.
Thursday, October 16, 4:30 ? 6pm Reading & Writing in Kindergarten-?veloping a Playful, Confidence-Building Curriculum.
Reading specialist and kindergarten teacher Rosalie Franzese will present lessons and strategies that help young learners develop literacy skills. The discussion will highlight techniques from her practical guidebook, Reading and Writing in Kindergarten. Topics will include methods for read-aloud, shared reading and writing, guided reading, word study and interactive writing. For teachers of PreK ? K.

Great Grouping Strategies for Maximum Learning Across the Curriculum.
Elementary school teacher Ronit Wrubel will share tips from her book, Great Grouping Strategies. This workshop will feature dozens of ways to group students to promote maximum learning. She will demonstrate how to plan and organize student partnerships, cooperative learning groups, group meetings, and study groups. For teachers of grades 1 ? 4.
