Books on the Big Screen: Holes

This month we'll be discussing some of the recent (or perhaps not so recent) movies that have been made that were based on children's books.

Because it's probably still fresh in many movie-goers' minds, lets start off the discussion with the recent release "Holes," based on the book by Louis Sachar. When I first heard they were making a movie of
"Holes," I couldn't imagine how they'd do it without losing the complexity of the narrative structure, something I found quite pleasing as a reader. I was pleasantly surprised by how closely the movie followed the book and, even more importantly, how it seemed to capture the spirit of it.

Would anyone else who's seem "Holes" care to comment on it? Did you find it satisfying or disappointing?
