I agree that "Holes" was one of the best book to movie adaptations I've seen. One thing that I thought was especially interesting was the tv commercial before the movie came out. Studios must invest tons of money on these to get them just right, since that opening week is so crucial, and the tag line they chose was: "the book is now a movie." That's showing a lot of confidence in the literary knowledge of movie goers...or maybe it's recognition that this book in particular is one that kids know about already. And also, I think, it alerted those who never heard of the book (especially the adults), which might have contributed to the number of library patrons who are now seeking out the book.
