If you already expect to be in Chicago for one reason or another this summer, while you're in the Windy City you might want to plan on seeing the exhibition "Exploring the World with Peter Sis." The exhibition contains original artwork from the book Tibet: Through the Red Box, and it can be seen at the Art Institute of Chicago between now and Sunday, September 14. Original artwork from other books also written and illustrated by this internationally prominent award-winning artist, writer, and film maker can be seen in this exhibition in Galleries 10 and 16.

The Art Institute is located at 111 S. Michigan Avenue in the Grant Park area of downtown Chicago.

The museum is open daily CDT: Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri - 10:30 - 4:30; Tues 10:30 - 8:00; Sat, Sun - 10:00 - 5:00. On Tuesdays there is no admission fee.

Public parking garages are nearby, and public transportation is easy to use, as well. Both Art Institute entrances are accessible by ramp and electronic doors; wheelchairs and strollers are available on a first-come, first-served basis at both entrances.

A Teacher Resource Center is available (phone: 312D3719), and there are occasional Family Programs about Art throughout the summer, too.

Arrangements usually can be made to bring groups of children to the exhibit, but I'm not making any promises on behalf of the Art Institute staff as to the availability of tours during the summer for groups! If interested, just inquire c/o Visitor Services 312D3933, or ask to be transferred to whoever can provide the information about which you're inquiring.

For general information phone 312D3600, or visit the Art Institute web site for details in order to plan your visit on your own, or with other adults, a family, or a group http://www.artic.edu Click on Museum, and then on Visitor Information.

Enjoy! Ginny (An enthusiastic member of the Art Institute in all seasons)
