I so agree w/Judith's comments here. Also agree w/her previous comment on J.K. Rowlings going on record that book 4 needed no editing. I'm not sure her last two titles needed to be as long as they ended up being... the parents' pocketbooks being one of the victims... and Judith's comments
(based on Rowling's quote) put some light on the subject for me as to why they ended up as long as they did. As awesome a storyteller as Rowlings is I concur that a top editor could have tightened things up and shortened the volumes without loosing the central storyline.
