Words from another lurker. Perhaps this is a little off the focus. . .
I am very disappointed when I see movies -- such as Shrek (Dreamworks), The Borrowers (Polygram), The Stupids (New Line Cinema), or Corduroy (Weston Woods)
-- that purport to be based on a children's book, but have nothing to do with the book outside of borrowing the main character's name. I agree that they should add some kind of disclaimer noting this. It is disheartening to give one of these wonderful books to a child who has seen the movie, only to have the child reject the book because it is not like the movie! :(
