My experience was similar to others who have responded. Our teachers' book club had read the book earlier in the spring, and several of us saw the movie together. We thought that the movie captured the spirit of the book, even when the details differed. The atmosphere of the camp was shown very effectively, and the rather complicated time changes were done in a visual way that I think could be grasped even by those who hadn't read the book. The book was very popular at our school. All 12 of our copies were in constant circulation for several months, and many students waited anxiously for the movie.
