Although I am only a little over 100 pages into the book, I am enjoying being back with Harry and wallowing in the details. Someone else mentioned this kind of enjoyment of the length of the book. I also identify with KT's earlier sentiments about not feeling the books really start until Harry gets to Hogwarts; and it seems to take longer with each book. I'm impatient, but so is Harry. I think the reader's impatience parallels the character's own experience -- he too cannot wait to get away from the Dursleys and for life
(the book!) to start again. At the same time I am enjoying the details and don't mind the length (at least not yet) this time. I just finished a two page description of an elevator ride. So entering the Ministry of Magic thorugh a telephone booth wasn't all that original . . . adult fans who know Get Smart will smile and enjoy the parallel, and kids will enjoy it too. I'm not saying you can't criticize these books (or one can't edit J.K. Rowling), but so far, this is an enjoyable read . . .
