I had serious doubts about the "Holes" casting prior to watching the movie
- the book characters depicted in my imagination did not match the actors that were already known to me via previous movie or television exposure or were splashed across the screen during the much-hyped trailer at the theatre. (The opposite is true for the Harry Potter movies - I'm delighted to see the various popular actors in their roles).

Still, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and felt kind of guilty that I had so much apprehension! Time and again I find myself ready to despise any movie based on a beloved children's book, yet I am also first in line to buy a ticket.

I can't wait to discuss "Tuck Everlasting" and Winnie's Salome-style dance scene. I must have missed that in the book.
