Harry Potter

As a high school teacher in an urban setting, I am excited to see so many of my students latch on to Harry as much as I have. They are constantly reading each and every book; lately they've been loudly voicing their anticipation of the new book. I think many of my students connect with Harry's search for identity--something that is definitely mirrored in their own lives. Most students can't wait for the continuation of the story.

As a sidenote, I have to agree with a posting from this evening; younger children who read books that have more mature content often ignore the parts that they can't understand. Perhaps parents can discuss these more mature issues with their children as they are reading the novel, or just let these more complex ideas pass right over their children's heads.
