awaiting harry

I know quite a few older children (12 now) who read the first few books and found #4 too long, so they stopped reading them. I asked one (age 13) the other day if he was excited about book 5, and he mumbled "sure, maybe I'll read it. I hear it is long, though." It is 896 pages long, I believe.
Not the kind of enthusiasm I know I feel.... As KT mentioned, younger children are certainly excited, but I think this is problematic because these 8/9 year olds might not be prepared to handle the darkness I anticipate. We'll see.
But I and many others I know are certainly awaiting Harry. We've altered our traditional summer solstice party to fit the theme and end up at an independent bookstore at midnight!
