I remembered a wonderful article Marc Aronson did on the history of YA literature for PW in the last couple of years, and found my copy of the magazine: February 11, 2002, page 82. It notes that this is excerpted from his book, EXPLODING THE MYTH: THE TRUTH ABOUT TEENAGERS AND READING
