Monica,

I completely agree with your arguement for why some kids might like to read edgy books. I find myself more and more interested in edgy books out of pure curiosity of what that type of lifestyle is like. It doesn't mean I want to live like the characters in the book, but it sure is interesting to read about. My latest edgy book obsession are Adam Rapp's Little Chicago and 33 Snowfish. Both depressing, edgy, and completely enthralling in my opinion. However, I'm not sure what aged teen I'd recommend them to and my guess is that many parents wouldn't approve of their child reading parts of them. I also enjoyed reading Twevle by Nick McDonnell, about a high school drug dealer. I'd be curious to know what others think about any of these books and their place in YA literature.
