Stories in poetry

I've been working on an article for the English Journal on narrative poetry in YA novel form and have come across some incredible novel length works. Jackie Woodson just came out with an incredible novel that reaches to the heart of a teen's struggle to be and feel, called Locomotion. Ron Koertge has a great novel called Shakespeare Bats Cleanup. A novel of multiple voices about finding a place to heal, called Keesha's House by Helen Frost, offers readers a chance to look at the ways they choose to heal their own wounds.
Those are only a few of the novels... but they're the ones whose personal voices reach out to connect in universal ways.
