This is the cite of Billy Collins, the US Poet Laureate, incredible poetry resource; a poem a day for all 180 days of school. Though geared to young adults, many of the poems can be used with varied ages.

Happy Poetry-ing! Now let's keep the genre going ALL year long, not just in April.

Thwack! Hand to forehead!?!

Did my mind suddenly go dead?

There's something important I've been meaning to share

And now...and now...it's almost too late, I must seem like I do not care...

And so ends my poem! But, seriously, The Poetry 180 website is a great resource and being the poem passionate person I am, I point it out wherever I go, whenever I can remember. Alas and Alack...I did not remember in time to share the website with you all. Thank goodness Lee did remember!

Unfortunately, it's a bit too late, but Random House, the publisher's of Billy Collins' -Poetry 180- has been sending out a Poetry 180 e-newsletter complete with poem each day throughout April. I know...I know...obviously this post of mine is a bit too late. Well, not exactly!

Today's e-poem (?!) ends with this snappy statement:

And that brings us to the end of National Poetry Month 2003. We hope you enjoyed this taste of some of today's most delightful contemporary poetry. Don't forget to order your copy of Poetry 180 today to get the rest of the wonderful poems in this collection.

This newsletter will now go out once a month until National Poetry Month rolls around again in April 2004 and include a wrap-up of the best poetry newly available from Random House each month. Until then...
